The S3012's are beautiful looking with the espresso wood veneer. The sound is extremely tight and detailed. I think that if you simply plug and play, you may feel they do not dig as deep if you are used to ported subs...however, with some simple adjustments such as DiractLive, or especially if you have a MiniDSP HD, you can made the adjustments needed to really focus on those LFE ranges (I'm a movie guy so that is my cup of tea)...they can really dig deep and sound so much better and can play deeper than my SVS PB16's.
