"Just received my S1512 today and I’m happy to report there is no hum! That’s with using a 25 foot Monoprice cable and the crossover all the way to bypass. Sound quality seems excellent so far and is blending nicely with my Rythmik! One thing to note, Tom accidentally shipped the wrong sub (A down firing instead of Front firing) and with FedEx delaying my shipment 6 days it wasn’t a good experience. With a quick email to Tom, he got the correct sub shipped that day and offered a nice upgrade at no extra cost! Great customer service PSA! Can’t recommend them enough! I will post more after some more time with this little gem. Two S1512's in my 2100 cu ft living room connected to another 1900 cu ft room, provides more than enough bass for me. With the high sensitivity of these new woofers, output is awsome. I didn't take any measurements (I really want to learn REW) but the gain controls are both set to around the 10 o'clock position. I then run the subs 3 db's hot in the AVR. I notice much more bass content than I ever did with my last sub (Rythmik F15) and these things are gorgeous in the Black Ash cabinet." -Chatoboy

"Although I can't give you any first hand impressions of the S1811's, I did switch from sealed subs that are more capable than the S1811's(think S18 Ipal), to a pair of S1512's.Here's what I can tell you without the slightest doubt. You will never approach the full capability of a pair of S1512's on music. You will have, for all practical intents and purposes, unlimited headroom. Shocking amount of headroom for music, fantastic mid bass slam. Deep, punch, and powerful. And I'm picky, as I've had a pair of one of the best 18's in the world in my system for the last couple years. For movies, I was able to tell that they don't quite have the headroom that my higher excursion 18's had, but they still pack a potent punch for such a small sealed package. FAAAAR more than you will be able to utilize in an apartment imo. My room is 2525 ft^3 for reference. I am flat to 10 Hz with room size set to large. Watched How to Train Your Dragon around -15 MV and have to say I was pleasantly impressed with the amount of LFE they are able to produce. Most impressive demo scene I have done on them, by far, was the WWZ grenade scene. I started around -20 MV and ramped up to -10. By -10, it had my entire house groaning with the pressurization....enough to make my wife tell me to knock it off from the next room. People not familiar with good subs would be stunned by the LFE these things put out on that scene. Your neighbors will *hate* you if you ran these at full tilt in an apartment. Now, having said that, I know that the same scene on a low tuned ported sub would probably be on another level altogether. But, considering the very small size for a sealed 15, with a very high efficiency pro audio driver, it was quite impressive.

These will be a fantastic choice for someone who wants a nice small footprint, extraordinary music capability, and impressive movie performance for their size. Also, they look fantastic....the satin finish on these is actually really really nice imo, and will not show dust, fingerprints, etc. Nice round edges, and I really like the ease of the room size control to adjust the low end. I've been debating whether I want to stick with these S1512's or go with a low tuned ported sub(which of course would be much larger), and its going to be a tough decision for me. Subjectively, they are performing better than I expected on movies in some ways. But I'm also a big fan of having unlimited headroom down low. Everything is a trade off. Remember, my expectations are very high as my previous subs were above reference capable to below 10 Hz. As I moved up in MV from -25 to -20 and even -15, the subs stayed completely composed without the slightest hint of struggling....however, given how hot I had the subs and with DEQ engaged, there wasn't much noticeable increase in LFE during this scene as the volume went up. They were giving what they were capable of on the lowest stuff at -25...the shake and rumble and composure were still there as the volume went up, it just didn't increase in intensity. So, I was clearly able to find the LFE limits of the subs, but they stayed completely composed even when asked to give far more than they were capable of giving. This is a big positive in my book.....I think you will never have to worry about hurting these subs, and they will never draw attention to themselves in terms of showing any signs of distress. I'll try to provide some more subjective feed back as I get a few movies under my belt. But so far I would say that anyone that really needs the smallest footprint possible, I don't think anyone would find the limits of these things on music, and they will give all they can on movies and LFE without any audible signs of distress." -bear123

"Well, the S1512 arrived today, and wow...just wow. I know I'm coming from a MUCH cheaper sub, but it's good to know that my room limitations weren't the biggest factor. Pretty much exactly what I was looking for, nice tight bass...and it seems to integrate really well with my Klipsch RF-5s. I don't have any room measurement tools...but I've been "tuning" the sub with The White Stripes "Elephant" and Cake "Pressure Chief." -johnsnownw
